As a member of the Committee on Appropriations for the USDA Rural Development Program, I am asking that you give URGENT attention to this budget item. It’s my understanding that the funds for the USDA Guarantee Loan Program are projected to be depleted by the end of April 2010. As you know, this program is vital to the First Time Home Buyer Market. The First Time Home Buyer Market is vital to the recovery of the real estate industry as well as the economy as a whole.
It would be very damaging to see this program expire so early in the budget year when our government, as well as all of us in the mortgage and real estate industries, has been promoting the First Time Home Buyer tax credit. Buyers must put homes under contract by April 30, 2010 and close by June 30, 2010 but they need available funding in order to do that. In many areas of the country, this program is absolutely critical to purchasing homes.
Please give this budget item your immediate attention before time runs out.
